What we are looking forward to in 2020

Our theme for this year is Language and Literacy Development of Children who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing. We plan to offer over 30 hours of AGBell Academy approved continuing education hours to professionals around the world.

Three more professionals will be officially starting their LSLS certification process in April 2020 under the mentorship of Uma Soman.

We continue to connect with professionals who have taken our courses through in-person visits to their centers. Uma Soman visited Dhvani Early Intervention Center and Education, Audiology, Research Center in Mumbai, India in January 2020. The observations and conversations with families and professionals were well-received and provided important insight for developing future programs.

Many new families from India, UAE, UK, and USA have joined the Listening Together Parent program since January 2020. We are expanding and reorganizing our intervention services to meet this growing demand for services.

Eight webinars have been planned to provide families and professionals specific strategies for promoting language and literacy development. Each webinar will be presented in English on Saturday and in Hindi on Sunday. Families and professionals can attend these webinars free of charge!

A special series of free webinars on audiological management of children      with unilateral, mild, moderate, severe hearing loss, and auditory neuropathy dysynchrony featuring special guest speakers will be hosted by Listening Together, made possible by a donation from the Butte Creek Foundation. Thank you for your generosity!

Uma Soman in collaboration with Dr. Jenna Voss, of Fontbonne University has been accepted as a 20-minute podium presentation at the International Congress of Education of the Deaf in Brisbane Australia.

We will attend the Hands and Voices Family Leadership conference in September 2020, in Nashville, TN to discuss best practices for promoting family empowerment and locally sustainable family leadership initiatives.

As a new member of the Coalition for Global Hearing Health we will attend the annual conference which is being held for the first time in Mumbai, India in October 2020.
